I love to spoil my chickens, and give them "treats". I know, not so much as to "spoil their appetite" for their regular food, but I love to watch them get excited. My girls love just about everything I have given them (I always check to make sure the treats are okay for chickens). A favorite special treat are strawberry tops, and I feed them the invasive earthworms whenever I find them in the garden. Tonight, they got popcorn and peach pieces! Oh my! They gobbled up both, but really loved the peaches! Clucking and purring, and so happy were my chickies! What do your chickens love (or don't love)?

Nicole, I too enjoy spoiling my girls. They like fresh collard greens but mustard greens & cabbage not so much. I buy greens for them because my shady backyard has little grass left due to lack of rain.
Popped popcorn is a favorite but their all time favorite is light bread. I buy it just for them because I like bread with more substance. For you younger FarmGirls light bread is what I grew up calling white sandwich bread.
I catch the stray bug for them and they have a great time snatching it away from one another.

Fermented barley! Smells like pig slop but they adore it! And the fermentation adds good probiotics too.

Oh Sharon! I've missed you! I wish I had some pigs to feed the barley to, but we've got our hands full with our chicks, goats and dogs. Stop by more often.. Blessings Lisa

Sherone,
I buy the corn mixed with the mealworms for them, and it cuts the cost down a bit. Mine love them too.
They were quite happy to day as my kale got attacked by worms. It was too far gone, so I gave it to the chickens. Worms AND kale! Oh my! Chicken Heaven!

In addition to garden scraps (mostly bolted lettuce) I sprout barley for my girls. They love it when the blades are about 2 inches tall.
