Need some advice about cleaning Irish Linen---I fell for it again...bought three vintage (1930?- 1940?)linen tablecloths(BIG ones)on EBAY and in the listing it mentioned they were "lightly" stained. NOT TRUE. They are horribly stained. It also mentioned they were "white" another untruth-they are grayish/yellowish and dingy.... but in good condition-No frays-No holes or tears.

Oxyclean? Which I have never used....but found it mentioned a couple of times online.

I have a very large copper boiler (we use for kindling) that I will use to soak them in overnight, but I need to know how to do this.

I checked on-line and there are many, many suggestions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ladies!

Melody,
For lots of linens I've gotten I've used Shout Advanced stain remover on the spots/stains and then soaked in Oxyclean for several hours/overnight. I usually add a little bleach when washing them. Has worked for everything I've done.
Wishing you the best!
CJ

P.S. I love Irish linens!
