Downtown DeLeon, Texas, has these along their downtown street.
Coffee cups and saucer planters made from old tires and painted in various colors with polka dots.

They found a great way to recycle old tires and help beautify the downtown area.
What do you think?

That IS cute! I've seen lots of different ideas for using old tires . . . maybe someday I'll implement some of them!

Those are really cute! Of course in Minnesota, half the year they would be filled with snow.

My grandmother had a couple of planters made out of tractor tires. The tire was cut in from the inside edge in a V on one side. Then the tire was turned inside out and the cuts spread out like a big flower and were painted. We had a sandbox made like this.

I know I've see tire swings and sandboxes made from them for a long time. Using them as more decorative items is becoming more popular as people become more conscious about protecting our environments.

OH! That is the cutest! I've seen tires used for planting, but never done up like that. Love it. Thanks for sharing.

Those are awesome! I love looking at the recycling ideas for tires on Pinterest. One of my many dreams is a cactus tire garden with the tires painted in Southwest designs. Oh if only days had 48 hours instead of 24....(sigh).
