My first solo road trip

My husband stayed home to look for work and our 19 year old does not want to travel with Mom and Dad anymore. I know he his going through that 'stage'. School out and my vacation time was drawing near. What to do and where to go I thought? We as a family, normally go to a state and look as all the tourist places and savior the local flavor, ice cream shop and take pictures of places that are famous to that state. And I am always out on the look out for small antique store and small thrift stores to find old magazine and odd object to create my future 'Vintage Artist' creations that I sell at various wineries and High School holiday bazaars. I decided to go visit a girlfriend in Newport, WA. We meet in a birthing class at the hospital, nineteen year ago. She took me to all of the antique stores and I pick up a lot of new treasure. After a few days I drove to Moscow, Lewiston ,Boise and Twin Falls. My next stop Stansbury, UT to see another girlfriend I have know since 1st Grade. I got their a few days before her birthday in late June. So much better than just wishing her happy B'day on F.B. Stayed with her for a few days and then drove back home to the N.W.

Wow what fun. Did you see a glimpse of MaryJane while passing through Moscow? LOL. What fun to see friends you haven't seen for years. I love to go off by myself on occasion and proud of you for doing so.

I don't think I am brave enough yet to drive anywhere by myself. Flying yes, but not driving. Though I do enjoy the days I get to go off to shop or whatever by myself but that is local. Good for you Janice!

Good for you , Janice!! I am happy to hear that you had lots of fun on your first solo car adventure trip! It sounds like you saw some great places and enjoyed a few old friends as well. Now you can plan other excursions if you have the time and nobody else wants to come along. Life is too short to just sit home!

That is a nice trip and a beautiful State to visit all over.

Sounds like you had a good time and lots of fun antiquing.

Janice, now that you have dipped your toes into the pool of flying solo... you can start planning more fun trips... and who knows, someday you might find yourself with a wee lil trailer and caravanning with CeeJay & me...

It is lots of fun to do road trips even if it is by yourself. I did one with my daughter when she was 4 years old, so it was like being alone since she could not help me drive. lol We drove from Florida and stopped at Georgia and then Maryland to visit friends. My hubby flew up and we toured Washington D.C. for a week and he drove us back home. It was a great trip.

Janice! I loved your trip!! I took my first one by myself at age 56! Our daughter was in Chicago for work, My hubby went on a ATV trip to Mt View, Ark. So I drove about 180 miles to Franklin, Tn. Famous for a Cival War battle and many famous Country stars live in and around the area. I stayed in a 100 year old Bed and Breakfast in nearby Leipers Fork Tn, Featured in Country Living Magazine. Beautiful scenery! Took my Flannel nightgown and toothbrush, change of clothes, nobody to care for but myself!
