Anyone ever have toddlers with cavities? My Sawyer, 2.5, has 2!As I tried to get him back to sleep I did some research. Did you know it isn't a "family history of soft teeth" that is typically the problem? It is a bacteria, actually, typically passed by the mother, if she is prone to cavities. See, I have been brushing our teeth well, 2-3 times a day. And he still has these cavities. I am so upset, because it hurts him, but also because I am a nervous wreck about getting them fixed. He will likely be taken to a hospital and put out, according to what our dentist told us. Lord, I am terrified!! Please pray! http://www.parents.com/baby/health/baby-teeth/cavities/

Poor little baby! I wish I had some info on this for you, but I don't really know much about it. But I will be praying for him ( and you).

I don't think that sealants are done on baby teeth. Bacteria in the mouth can be tricky to deal with, especially in one so young. Right off the top of my head, I would think to use some coconut oil mixed with some silver and lavender to brush the teeth with and massage the gums.

There is a tincture you can take that is suppose to help, that has black walnut hull in it, along with other herbs... a book you may be interested in is "Be Your Own Doctor."

Here is what I do for my kiddos to help repair cavities and prevent them. I mix all these in a smoothie and my boys drink it down without knowing it's there. So I use Cod Liver oil, vitamin K2, ground horsetail, and Probio5 from Plexus Worldwide (the best probiotic I have found. Hope that helps. |

Thanks for the tip Christy!! I did go ahead and have them filled. I hated to, but I also didn't want another sleepless night with him hurting (luckily, it only happened once). He has not sedated at all. Matt, DH, sat with him and he did VERY well.

Even having the cavities filled you can still use these herbs and vitamins as preventive. Vitamin K2 is found in grass fed dairy and meat so if those are part of the kids diet you are good there but I give additional if I feel there in a problem. The cod liver oil and probiotics I give my kids everyday because I feel they benefit so much from taking them. The herb horsetail is the only one I don't give daily only if I see a problem or a couple of weeks before a dentist visit and after. Horsetail can help build new enamel on the teeth and strengthen what is there which is why I give it before a dentist visit. Just want to explain a little more on how I use these. |
