A few months back, I posted my Knit for Victory vest that I made as a special project using the original Red Cross pattern for WWI and WWII. It was easy for this beginner and turned out to fit nicely. So I decided to make another in brighter colors. Yesterday, I finally finished it !

Boy, it is warm and cozy!! The wool is thick and soft too. I was pleased at how the colors patterned out too. Well, it is time now to pack it in the sweater box for the summer so it doesn't fall prey to nibbling moths!! Down here in Florida, it will be December before there will be cool enough weather to put it on!

Kinda collegiate, definitely on trend with colors, and most positively gorgeous on you I'm sure:)

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I am looking forward to wearing it next year when we get our few cold spells. The one aspect about the color scheme that I like is that there are lots of ways to mix and match the sweater with other clothing.

Amy, just keep knitting simple items and you will be ready to tackle a bigger project. This vest is just knit and pearl in counted rows. Some shorter and some longer. It is made in one long piece which you then sew the sides together. It is the first big project that I have made and now I think I can take on something just a bit more involved. But, I am still in the easy beginner stage!! LOL!! I think the key to knitting progress is to take it slow and not try something too difficult when you are not ready.Frustration is the killer of knitting confidence for me and I find that taking on something that gets complicated and full of mistakes just makes me want to QUIT! I recommend being a "turtle" in your beginning career of knitting. Good luck!!

Winnie, your vest turned out beautiful. After reading your comments on knitting it..I want to pick up my needles again and be proud of being a "turtle".
