Our new adventure this year will be raising pheasants. Hubby has always wanted to and since we have an empty extra large stall now (connected to an outdoor run), it's time. The chicks come mid-May. He wants to raise most to release but keep a few breeding pairs and then incubate eggs next year. I'm excited - it's always fun to have something "new" on the farm. :)

I did. They never let you get near them they are tiny and will run away at any given chance. They fit through a normal panel of chicken wire. And flew away when they couldn't run. Fun to watch but once I let them go never I have seen a pheasant on this side of the Mountain.

We raised some for a while. They are beautiful but flighty and particular birds. Just make sure that they aren't crowded or they'll peck one another to death.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've heard they are pretty flighty. I've also heard they can get through places that you don't think they should be able to. :) I'm excited for the new adventure!
