Today some of my gal-pals and I went up the mountain to our local Alpaca ranch to visit the alpacas,,, and buy some wool and then over to Bass Lake for lunch...
What's not to luv about a sweet freshly shone alpaca... as well as alpaca goodies...

gotta luv those faces...

and then of course, I needed to get a few things...

I luv the 'goats milk soap with the alpaca wool felting around it... as you use it, the soap shrinks and the felt felts even more...
The little 'boots' are felted alpaca wool filled w/lavender...
I even bought a pair of felted alpaca wool shoe/boot inserts,,, OH MMM Geeepppers! talk about comfy!
I also bought 1 skein of alpaca wool to crochet into something,,, don't know what yet,,, maybe a pair of small fingerless gloves,,, tho I'll probably have to go back for another skein,,, a trip I am willing to take! lol!
The only think I didn't bring home from the alpaca ranch was some alpaca phoo... well maybe a wee bit on the bottom of my boots... lol! which by the way is great for gardens...

I have to laugh, the owner said that her guy that shears them is right handed and so the left sides always look a little fuller... lol!

I love the boots and alpacas are so easy to raise, they pee in the litter box like cats. They also are cute.

How fun! We used to have a llama (a mountain lion killed him) and he was so silly. He loved to give "butterfly" kisses and loved to smell around my mouth after I brushed my teeth! We miss him!

Love love love the idea of one day having a few alpacas. Might need to see if I can find a farm locally, to visit! I had no idea they use a litter box type thing!

they are very social~herd animals,,, so if you are dreaming of someday having one,,, dream again,,, get at least 3, preferably 4 so they have their little mini hers...
They are 'hummmers' it's their funny sound that they make...

Oh and CeeJay, yep, when Larry the Llama would escape the ranch where he lived, he always came straight to our corral,,, and he knew we always had (left over) candy canes, which he just loved,,, which is a good thing, cuz when he would give us snurffy kisses,, he had horrendous breath! lol!

I sure miss our llama, "Rocky" . . .and his soft, fluttery butterfly kisses! I don't miss his stinky breath, however! :D

It's not uncommon for a lot of the local (horse) ranchers (back on the West Plains of Spokane) to own a Llama as a herd companion and "watch Dog".. Llamas are great watch/guard animals...

Not only are llamas lovable, they are also the most ecologically gentle livestock you can own. Their feet (they have toes) don't tear up the ground, they don't graze all the way down to the root of the grass, and their fertilizer, which can be easily collected due to their cat-like litter tendencies, makes great fertilizer. Their wool is valuable and can be spun to make coats, scarves, mittens, socks--and they're cute to boot. They can pull a cart, carry a pack and like to give kisses. I wish I had a llama. Maybe someday...
