My grandkids love getting mail, and I am sure all children love going to the mailbox and finding mail addressed to them. I am hosting a Kids "This is My State" Postcard Swap. This will be like the card swaps the farmgirls have had for holidays. Every child who is signed up will send a "souvenir of their state" postcard to every child who signs up - maybe a historical monument or special place or building. This is also a great writing assignment for children, and a great way for them to learn interesting facts about other states.

Signups end: May 15
Cards to be sent out by: June 15

When signing up, please mention your state and send me your child's name(s), ages (if you want), and address through a private message so I can make a list and send it out to everyone who is participating.

Farmgirl hugs,

My granddaughters would love to get mail and it would be a fun project for us to do together and show our North Dakota pride.

YEE HAW!! Thank you all for joining! This will be a wonderful geography lesson for the kids. My grandsons are home-schooled, so this is a great teaching tool.

FYI - my daughter-in-law told me that some Chamber of Commerce offices have free postcards from the area. That might be a place to check for postcards.

Also, since we have several groups of siblings at the same address, please try to send different postcards to each of these so they can have different postcard subjects to discuss for the lessons.

So far we have Texas (5), Kentucky (2) and North Dakota (2).

Denise -

Please list their first names/ages here and then send me their last name and addresses.

Glad you signed them up. I think they will enjoy this. It is a great writing and geography project - and they won't know that they are learning. LOL!

I just emailed the list of names to everyone. I know the kids will enjoy receiving postcards this summer.

Please let me know if you do not receive the list.

HAVE FUN!

My grandtwins mailed their postcards today. My older grandson still needs to write and send his. I made them all and had to make 9 different cards so the multiple-kid households didn't get duplicate cards. LOL! They are all places, things, or critters that are related to Texas! Hope your kids like them.

Good evening,

My boys were very excited to get their postcards from Phillip and Richard. We have talked about the post card swap and what pictures to use now it is a reality for them. Thank you for doing the swap.

My granddaughters were so excited to show me their post cards from Phillip and Robert. They are staying with me next week so will be working on getting theirs out. Thank You Linda for doing this, what a fun summer project for the kids.

I'm glad some of the postcards are arriving at their destinations! Phillip and Richard have received a couple cards each and they love going out to the mailbox to see if they get mail!

This sounds like ya'll are having a fun summer adventure. I know kids love to get mail. That was my granddaughter's life line last summer when she was having her proton beam radiation at M. D. Anderson in Houston. Seven weeks away from family was hard. I tried to send a small package every other day, so she could go to the office of the RV park and ask if she had mail. She really looked forward to mail days and the little surprises.

Good evening,

WE sent out one boy's cards today. In a couple of days I will send the next boy's cards and then couple of days later the third. This is the easiest writing assignment I have gotten any of them to do.

Sweet dreams,

That sounds good Holly. That way the kids will get postcards days apart instead of all at once.

Good evening,

Just wanted to say that the boys were very jealous that I received post cards in the mail today and they did not. Patience is so hard when a person is young.
