I just joined the Sisterhood and couldn't be more excited! I picked up my first issue of Mary Jane's Farm this month and was instantly hooked (as I'm sure all of you were as well!). I connected most with the article on following your dreams of having your own farm. I've dreamt of such a thing, in one form or another, since I can remember. We are moving in that direction, all be it slowly.
I'm a part time catering chef, full time middle school lunch lady , and full time mom to an awesome six year old daughter (soon to be Young Cultivator) and wife to an equally awesome husband of 15 years. A lot has happened in the last couple of years but it's teaching us many valuable life lessons. Most importantly, that we are a lot stronger and more resilient than we thought!
I'm looking forward to getting to know this vibrant community of folks and joining in the fun! |

Welcome to the farm Julia! You will fit right in and have lots of fun here! I enjoy crafts and gardening. Someday I'm hoping to have chickens but for now I'm just happy with my honeybees.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Welcome Julia! The farm dream is what drew me in to MJF also. At least some version of it! Happy you're here, and can't wait to get to know you better! :)

Thank you all for the warm greetings!
Janice, Graham is between Puyallup and Eatonville. We are about 45 minutes from Mt. Rainier National Park. We used to live in Ashford (about a three minute walk to the park!) Coincidently, I will be in Vancouver the end of July for a WSNA conference ( basically a lunch lady convention- lol!) It has been a long time since I've been, but I really liked Vancouver :)
I'm so tickled! A welcome from the Queen Bee herself! Thank you, Mary Jane! My daughter, Zelda, is quite the little farm girl in the making. It makes my heart so happy to have her in the garden with me or skipping off to feed and water the chickens. I would love to have the opportunity some day to teach children how to grow ( and cook!) their own food. Starting a Young Cultivators group would be a great way to do that- and more. I think I will get some merit badges under my belt first :) |

Welcome, Julia. I am a misplaced Washingtonian -- living in SE Pennsylvania now and loving it. Among the things I miss about Washington is my Evil Twin, the other Marilyn who posted a welcome above! I know you will love being here -- so much support and so many wonderful ideas. I just joined a few months ago and am having a ball working on merit badges. So glad that you're bringing your daughter along for the ride.

Welcome Julia! Wow, you wear so many hats. I bet all the kids at the school love you as their 'lunch lady'. What a great job.
