Check out this fabulous Farmgirl dishcloth afghan!!
I have been participating in Diane's monthly dishcloth swaps for a few years and loving them so much. Then, I saw in MaryJane's December magazine in 2013 (I think that is the year) where she had someone make dishcloths into an afghan. That idea just resonated with me so much I have been trying to save most of mine to make an afghan. Many dishcloths have been happily used over the years but there were still enough to make the blanket. MaryJane's neighbor took my stash and created this! Whoop!! Is it not the best??!! It is nice and warm too! Not all of the cloths are shown in this one photo as there is another whole side I am holding on the left. I just love all of the bright colors.
Thanks to all my Farmgirl buddies who swapped with me over the years! It has been such fun to create a dishcloth for each theme.
My new afghan is going to be a treasure forever and each time I use it, it will feel like a wonderful Farmgirl Hug from each person who created a dishcloth.

I had thought I would do that same thing with the ones I have collected. Great farmgirl minds think alike.

Actually, mine was a surprise that Diane organized (probably not dishcloths per se but an intentional "make an afghan square for MJ" effort). Mine lives on my couch for kitty and me. That way I can think of my sisters every time I pull it across my lap for warmth (and sisterly love.) It's become my security blankie.
Yours turned out awesome Winnie!

Love this idea! Something to do with the dishcloths that seem just to pretty to use on dishes. Guess I have another project coming up. Something else may have to just wait to get finished. LOL.

The Farmgirl named Dianne that does the dishcloth swaps is Dianaw1123 not to be confused with the Farmgirl named Diane that put together the afghan surprise for MaryJane (Fiddlehead Farm).
I sent out a secret request and gathered squares from various Farmgirls then stitched them all together in time for a Christmas surprise for MaryJane. Here is the original post from MaryJane. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=61444 That is a great idea Winnie! I have been trying some new stitches and have now decided to make them in a certain size so I can make my own afghan sampler. I love the quirkiness of these!

There isn't an evening or early work/writing morning goes by that I don't wrap my farmgirl afghan either around my legs or my shoulders. I'm always embraced. You have no idea how much I love it, Diane, the colors, the texture, the stretchy component. It's my "bankee." Makes me feel all cozy and secure. I seriously contemplated taking it with me when I went to NYC before Christmas.
