PRESS RELEASE
Contact Info: (your name, phone number, e-mail)
Month, Day, Year

Do you know a woman who farms, gardens, or simply daydreams over seed catalogs? Does she sew, cook, craft, make art, or raise little sprouts (kids, that is)? If so, she’s a farmgirl!

And in case you’re out of the loop, there’s a farmgirl revolution happening, led by MaryJane Butters.

Butters, a former wilderness ranger and environmental activist, is a modern-day organic farmer, author, and the Idaho farmgirl who added glamour to camping and transformed it into glamping. She has worn many hats (and aprons) in her day, but none more proudly than that of editor of her own women’s lifestyle magazine, MaryJanesFarm (now in its 15th year of publication), and author of five books: MaryJane’s Ideabook, Cookbook, Lifebook; MaryJane’s Stitching Room; MaryJane’s Outpost; Glamping with MaryJane; and Milk Cow Kitchen. She also produces a line of organic packaged foods and a bedding line, and is also recognized for her website, MaryJanesFarm.org; her popular online journal, RaisingJane.org; and a national Sisterhood program, FarmgirlSisterhood.org, a thriving, dues-paying, active community of over 6,000 women from all walks of life.

“Farmgirls are multi-talented, resourceful, creative, strong, down-to-earth, and generous by nature. They enjoy creating things, whether it’s in the kitchen, studio, or wood shop. They may not live in the country, but friendship, fun, community, and creativity bloom wherever they happen to be ‘planted.’ It’s not where we live, but how we live,” says Butters. “In other words, farmgirls can do anything they set their minds to.”

Locally, our group of farmgirls will be celebrating with other like-minded women around the world each year, either meeting as a group in person or online. Our annual Jubilee celebration this year will be held (date, time, place) and we’d love if it you could help us get the word out. Butters put it this way: “Maybe run an apron up your flagpole, or tie one on (an apron, that is) to celebrate the first weekend of May with other farmgirls around the world during our annual Farmgirl Jubilee.” Whether online or in person, the intention is to get together with farmgirl friends and simply celebrate the farmgirl spirit.

Visit MaryJane’s Farmgirl Connection chatroom at MaryJanesFarm.org and look under the Farmgirl Jubilee Annual Celebration to find out what other farmgirls are planning.

Ohhh, I like this press release! It speaks so well to your work and our Farmgirl community. Where will the press release be sent? Wouldn't it be cool to be on Good Morning America? It would be so fun if local TV stations went around communities and captured the aprons flying everywhere. Just Imagine!

We're hoping farmgirls will use it to give to their local media outlets wherever they are, adding and subtracting from it for what their particular Jubilee celebration is.

MaryJane, I know it's a press release, but would it be okay to print it out and use it as handouts.

I'm also thinking about printing out FarmGirl at Heart business cards to handout. If she want's more info I can give her a press release.

Our Farmer's Market opens in May ~~ If it's the first week I may do something there.

Why that's a brilliant idea. Cut and paste as needed. That's what it's for. It's just a starting place for you to add your flair and flavor!

I have to figure out the best way to use this release. Our paper is really "weird" about things!
