Nearly 2 years ago, we participated in a mess of a rescue in our county. There were 170+ dead animals and 150+ live ones including chickens, rabbits, ducks, sheep, dogs, horses, ponies and a llama.

Just recently, the couple responsible for the fiasco took a plea deal and over 200 counts of animals abuse/neglect and child neglect were reduced to just 4 felony counts each of Improper disposal of an animal carcass. They are being sentenced Friday, February 13 at 9 am. We will be attending.

Anyway, the director of the Animal Protection League called me last week and asked me if could take the last pony. She's been living on a foster farm for the whole time and nobody wanted her. I said I would and she's been reunited with the other 2 we adopted from there.

When I unloaded her from the trailer, Brownie (the mini) got so excited. From the time I lead Cupcake through the gate, she and Brownie have been inseparable. I truly believe they remembered each other. Nutmeg probably remembers too, but she's in a different pasture. They "talk" over the fence, but not like she and Brownie do.

Oh my. You have to wonder how things get so out of control-those poor animals. Lora, thank goodness for people like you.

Lora! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Hugs to the horses. I'd love to see pictures of your adopted horses.

Lora, that is so fantastic! What a blessing you have been to these animals and the rescue community.

Cute names. I bet when they talk to each other they say, "I think that nice lady was craving sweets when she named us."

Lora, what a terrible story! Those poor animals and children! That's so wonderful of you to take some of the horses, and they were reunited! What a sweet little story for those two. Like Bear5 suggested, can you post any photos?

I have tried for the last hour to upload photos. It gets to the point of "processing" and stops. These are cell phone pics that I have uploaded to my computer so I don't think they are too big. I don't know what I am doing wrong?!

Lora I read the articles in your links. How could "state experts" not have found anything wrong with that many animal carcasses and the rest just skin and bones? I can't believe they got off so easy. Absolutely horrible.

It was horrible. The prosecutor asked her opinion about whether or not she thought is was okay to have live animals walking all over dead ones. She refused to answer the question. She's 'owned' by big ag. She's a pathetic excuse for an 'expert'.

What a terrible ordeal those animals must have been through. How wonderful that you could reunite them! I just don't understand how anyone could treat an animal cruelly. I didn't read the story, i admit. I'm sure it would upset me, but I'm so happy to know that you can give them a wonderful life now.

Farmgirl hugs,
Nicole

Thank you for saving these precious babies.
A few years back an animal hoarder lost her farm- in an emergency they had to remove all the animals. We ended
up with 3 male guinea pigs. (she hoarded large and small) I just lost the last of the 3. They were the most
appreciative critters we've ever had. I don't understand how people can do what they do. It's good people like
you who make a difference. Great job!

God has a bigger plan for me than I have for myself.

A slap on the wrist for the jerks, as usual. I can't believe some people and what they get away with.
