Yesterday, I bought an enormous amount of weaving supplies including a Kessenich Table Loom (20-inch weaving width) 4-harness loom-made in Michigan, along with a mountain of wool yarn (some from Sweden) and tubs of cloth-weaving accessories---including shuttles-drop spindle-wool combs and cards and a beautiful primitive weavers bench. The house is in the process of being closed-the owner is a life long artist and weaver-96 years old- that my MIL knows through her weaving guild.

It was HEAVEN and took two trips with the car full to bring home the bounty...what luck!!

At the time, I did not notice one tub filled with wool yarn that had a distinct moth ball aroma. Not really bad and actually it seems to be dissipating-I left the tub lid open overnight- or else I am just getting used to the smell.

I went on-line and there are a lot of different remedies, but I thought I'd check with my farm girl sisters to see if they had any tried and true remedy. Any suggestions?

Thanks ladies....

I have no suggestions to offer, but I do hope you find something that works. That's not a pleasant odor!

place your yarn in a plastic bag with fish tank filter charcoal, seal up tight and wait for 3-5 days, check for odor, repeat with new charcoal if needed...
