Hey everyone. I am very excited to get to know you all, I am already loving reading all the posts.

I am from Saskatchewan Canada, my husband and I moved to the family farm with our four children about a year ago. We lived in town and my husband drove to the farm everyday to work. That all changed when my father in law who lived here, had to have emergency open heart surgery and needed someone here all the time not only for him but also for the animals. We made the decision to move into grandmas empty house and embrace the modern homestead movement and a much more simple life. It was the best move we could have made.

We currently have cattle, goats, chickens, turkeys and horses. This spring we are adding in pigs and bees. We grow a large garden, have started an orchard and forage for berries and plants. Our goal is to be as self sufficient as possible and to live a healthier and simpler life.

Our children have flourished out here and we have become closer as a family. We work together and love the peace and quiet that you get in the country. I have started a blog all about our homesteading adventures so feel free to stop by an dread up on the happenings out here at Nanny Goat Acres :)

Thanks for reading :)

Welcome Cindy: I live in Minnesota and I'll bet right now you are a lot colder than we are. Our schools are closed due to the dangerous wind chills and its just those hardy souls venturing out. You are so lucky to have a farm to go to. I grew up on one but live in the city now. I love to hear about farmgirls like you taking the challenge. Good luck to you and happy farming. Welcome to you and your family to this sisterhood. I am so pleased to have read what is a very tiny piece of your story. I hope we hear from you often. I have always heard that my husband's family came from St. Mary's Quebec and I have a fondness for Canada. Blessings to your and your family in this year 2015 and beyond.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. The name came from a good friend of mine, we were trying to figure out what to call ourselves and she suggested it. I loved it right away and so here we are. Feel free to follow the blog. I only just started it but I promise it will get better :) Its very cold here -30or so with the windchill. All our critters are hiding out in the barn or in their sheds lol. Are there many other Canadians here? I look forward to talking to you all more :)

I missed your post too, Cindy...because I wasn't here yet! :) A great big welcome to you from Texas. I love the name of your farm. You're a step ahead of me - I've been here almost 7 years and still haven't come up with a name.
