I was planning on starting my own flowers from seed this year to cut down on chemical fertilizers being introduced to my garden space. I love growing petunias but can't find the old fashioned kind I'm used to buying from the nursery. All I can find so far are the Easy Wave, Tidal Wave, Shock Wave and The Original Wave, varieties of Petunia's. Anyone know where I can get some original, old fashioned, regular petunia's?

Also, this is my first year planting my flowers from seed. Those that have done this before, is it better to plant directly into the pot you want the flowers in or should I plant them in starter pots then transplant into the pots? Thanks for your help!

I do both - start seeds inside & sow outside directly into containers or the ground. The seed packet will tell which way is recommended for particular flower.

This year I am starting dwarf zinnias inside.

Krystle, maybe check with the Seed Savers Exchange. There are always people networking to share their treasured seeds.
