OKAY....Girls, this years' ornaments will all be made with a spool.
Up for this challenge...I hope so.....

Each ornament for each month will include a spool (as in a spool of thread). It can be the main part of the ornament or it can be part of the ornament. Google spool ornaments and see what pops up. This will be different and challenging and fun to make and create for 2015.

Spools can be found at estate sales, craft stores, sewing drawers, thrift stores....just be looking around

The January theme will be either a snowflake or red bird.
Include a hanger to it so it can be hung
Do your best work and have fun!!!!!!

MARCH WILL BE A VICTORIAN THEMED SPOOL.
APRIL WILL BE A COUNTRY THEMED SPOOL.

ALL IN THE THEME OF CHRISTMAS....WITH HANGERS....

I've been wondering what to do with the box of spools I have. Sounds like fun and a challenge. Will you be posting any of the other months in advance so we could get an earlier start on them? I already have an idea for January. Hugs, Brenda

Oh, boy. Starting early for 2015 - This makes the second I'm joining. I'm in! I love vintage sewing things, so these will go great on a sewing themed tree.

I have wooden spools to use; however, for those who don't, there are some neat ornaments that use the new plastic spools.

Ummmm this may be an idiot question, but couldn't you buy a packet of spools from the craft store as well? They sell them in the wood section at AC Moore, Michaels, and Joanns. I'm pretty sure Hobby Lobby carries them as well, but I forgot to look. Or is that not the spools we are talking about :/

I love red birds - I was born in Illinois and the Cardinal is the state bird, as it is for several others states, too.

Sure Shannon, you can use those. Many of us sew and remember the wooden spools that were used. Just a bit of nostalgia, I suppose, when I suggested the wooden sewing spools.. Thanks for the suggestion! Smiles...

I've had an idea in mind for this ornament, and finally found my red birds today. I got 2 so I could make me an ornament, too.
