To Whoever posted the simple remedy for fruit flies: Thanks!!
A little apple cider vinegar, a drop or two of dish detergent in a shallow dish. Cover with plastic wrap and poke some fly-size holes. I didn't realize we had so many. I won't tell you how many we caught. Disgusting--all caps and bold print!
We had to o the same thing here Carol. Heaven only knows where they came from, but it took two bowls worth to get rid of them. Hopefully we are both done with them for good!

My hubby hates those flies. He complains to me all the time about them. I tell him the positive side to the situation is that it means we have fresh fruit and veggies.
The little bowls like you described do work well. I feel so successful when I can capture the little buggers.
One of the best compliments from one of my daughters: "Moma, you smell good...like dirt."
We have also used the "glass of red wine" trapping method and that works well, too. The side bonus is that we get to watch the fruit flies zigging and zagging around drunk before they die. (Okay, that last part's not true, but the method works)
