i got my tomatoes planted about 3 weeks late and fall is upon us in northeast ohio...the sun slant in the sky has diminished the total amount of sun on my garden to about 4 hours of sun. my poor tomatoes have hit a wall on ripening. they are all green with a little bit of yellow and barely pink on a few and they've remained this way for two weeks. some are starting to rot because they dont get enough sun to dry off the dew!!! how can i salvage these plants that i started from seed??? they are beautiful plants that are as big as shrubs!!!

I'm not sure how you can save the plants, but you can pull off the tomatoes and put them in paper bags. As they start going orangish, take them out and put them in a window to finish ripening.

Renee,

We planted our plants abut 3 weeks late also and they are just now starting to ripen. One thing that did help is my honey hung a grow light above the fencing where the tomatoes are and we kept it on for about 3 hours each night. I have a box on my counter with tomatoes going through all stages of ripening. It figures that when we are close to getting a frost they start to ripen. I will have to try Shannon's tip too.

If all else fails I would be willing to share some Green Tomato recipes with you. I hope they ripen soon for you!
