Hi Gals, I was wondering if any one here has used food grade H2O2 for health issues? How did it turn out?
Love to all of you Tracy

Only as a mouthwash, Tracy. We mix a little in with "regular" mouthwash after brushing and flossing. Well, actually, my husband does it more faithfully than I do. I understand it's good for healthy gums. It foams like crazy, so if you don't want to look like a rabid dog afterwards, you need to rinse with water when you're done. ;)
What other kinds of health uses have you heard about? I'm curious now. |

Tracy, Hydrogen Peroxide is very drying and harsh on the mucous membranes of your mouth or anywhere else. It can be used as an infected wound cleanser when diluted to a 1:3 strength with normal saline. HP, however, kills skin cells so it should not be used for long periods of time in wounds because it retards new cell growth and healing. For wounds, sterile saline solution is a better wound cleansers because it doesn't kill the good healing cell tissues.
I am not sure what uses you had in mind for using hydrogen peroxide, but definitely don't take it by mouth for anything!! It is only useful in a diluted solution for wounds. There are many toothpastes now that have a bit of hydrogen peroxide in the formula so that you get a more foamy brushing effect. But keep in mind, it is carefully formulated to not be too harsh on normal mucous membranes in the mouth. These toothpastes are safe to use if you are looking for that sort of use. Don't try and make your own toothpaste with peroxide as it could end up way too caustic. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

Wow, Winnie, that's really interesting information. Our dentist told my husband to use the Peroxide/Mouthwash mixture after flossing when he had a gum disease a few years ago, and he's been doing it ever since. I wonder now if he's making things worse. I'll talk to him about this. Farmgirls rule! |

There is actually a book out called "The One Minute Cure" about how ingesting food grade hydrogen peroxide helps all sorts of things. I looked on Vitacost and Amazon, and they both sell the food grade. Not something I have tried, but many do. It has to be food grade.

I became interested in H2 O2 recently as my co-worker has been battling cancer, and our @#$%@ health insurance has denied her last resort of chemo therapy twice. She went to a local naturopath and is trying a similar treatment of the H2O2 (food grade) like what is described in "One Minute Cure" along with a clean diet and suppliments to correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The fire marshall we work with successfully reversed his prostate cancer by doing the same thing under the direction of this naturopath, so I am cautiously hopeful for my co-worker.
I am diabetic and I have all the symptoms of cushings but no definitive diagnosis of cushings; I have read that the H202 therapy can address those problems as well. I have made an appointment with this naturopath to be tested for mineral deficiencies and adrenal fatigue, so I will ask if this treatment would be appropriate for me.
Thankfully, my regular physician is open to researching natural remedies and does not get offended when I try alternatives to the pharmaceuticals. I believe they have a place in medicine, but I am really tired of managing symptoms with more and more meds rather than addressing underlying causes. My intuition tells me that correcting the vitamin and mineral deficiencies will do much to reverse my health issues.
I'll keep you posted, especially if I attempt an H2 O2 protocol.

Here is an important article regarding the myth about using hydrogen peroxide for anything other than wounds and household tasks. As an RN for 34 years in a variety of settings, Hydrogen peroxide is listed on the poison control list for all Emergency rooms and I have never ever seen an MD prescribe it for anything other than a diluted solution for some specific wound care situations.
