                      | I'm reading up on and considering going No-Poo...probably won't be able to do it cold-turkey. I have to do things slowly...baby steps. I finally quit my life-long monthly permanent hair color routine...hurray! Considering going shampoo-less at least weekly and hope to give up commercial shampoo altogether. The home-made herbal hair cleansers and tonics sound very appealing to me. Tell me about your herbal hair treatments or no poo experiences...I need encouragement. I already make some herbal soaps that I love...(calendula) .

                      | My girlfriend just uses any old conditioner instead of shampoo and she has beautiful shiny gray hair. I've never read about any herbal shampoo that you can make yourself, just those pricey commercial ones in the health food store. When I'm out in the garden and need s quick hand-wash, I grab a bunch of soapwort that grows near one of the outdoor faucets; true to its name, it lathers up and cleans great. I wonder if you could make shampoo out of it? Hmm. I might experiment.
I tried the baking soda thing for a while about a years ago. Horrible. Supposedly after a while your hair no longer looks like something out of Maurice Sendak, but I didn't have the courage to keep it up long enough to find out if that's true.

                      | Alright, Anita...
You got me a little curious about this. I looked it up and this website looks like a great resource for a place to start http://hairrecipes.homestead.com/howtomakeshampoo.html I really might give this a try. I used to wash my face just with honey, but I have a friend who gives me shampoo, body wash, face wash etc. for free. He's quitting his job soon though, so all that is coming to an end. Making it myself seems like a perfect solution! :)

                      | I heard about the no poo thing. I haven't tried it. Has anyone else tried it? I don't always use shampoo on my hair. I usually just mix some vinegar in with water and work that through my hair. My hair seems to be healthy and shiny. I only use shampoo once or twice a week.
