Praying for his family today and feeling so sad...... like millions of people across the world! He brought the world a lot of laughter, "The Best Medicine" according to the "Reader's Digest!
He came to Memphis often to St. Jude and to visit his brother who teaches high school here in Memphis.
My Holly loved Mork and Mindy as a child, We still have her trading cards in her memory Curio Cabinet.

I was shocked when I heard the news this morning, and it left quite the cloud over my day. My thoughts go out to his family, certainly.

Connie. Love those trading cards! Sad myself today. Prayers and good thoughts to his family.
I don't enjoy a lot of comedians or comedy , sometimes pretty crass to me. But this man would often have me in tears with laughing. Saw majority of his movies, comedy and drama . Truly was a gifted man that brought so many laughter and tears. He will be missed. So very sorry and sad that he was in such deep pain himself :(
Blessings, Linda

Such a gift... Such talent... Such a great heart... SO terribly sad that we couldn't have returned to him the joy he has so freely and joyfully given to us. Let us keep his loved ones in our prayers. And, Dearest Father God, please grant his soul peace and everlasting joy in the secure place in Heaven You have lovingly prepared for him. May he be a joyful blessing to You even more now that he is with You. And please, Lord, help his loved ones. Those of us who enjoyed his talent know not even a glimpse of the wonderful he was; his loss is inconceivable to all of us, but to those who knew and loved him, it is indescribably devastating and painful. Thank you, Father, for this precious gift; for the laughter and the way he touched our hearts through his characters. And thank you, Mr. Williams... You were simply awesome. We will always treasure your memory.

This really was sad. I loved Mork and Mindy as a child, and my whole family loved Robin Williams' work. Watching him being interviewed on the Today show was always a treat. His serious roles were amazing, too. Just a genius. So sad. I hope he can see how much the world really adored him. Nini, you said it best in your post. What a loss.

Very very sad. He touched so many and it sounds like he was very much tortured with depression. It makes me want to reach out a little more and listen a little closer to those I know who are struggling. |

Jenny, I agree, we need to listen more, care more and show more compassion to all of mankind.

This is so sad, I still can't believe he's gone. My father and I were talking about his movies and standup yesterday. He seemed like such a genuine person, I've only ever heard wonderful things about him. It really breaks my heart to know he suffered so much during his lifetime. Depression is a very real and sad thing, I've seen on so many sites where people are denying his suicide could be possible, but it is. I just hope his passing sheds light on mental illness and makes people more open to talking about it. |

I'm saddened but I've known for a while that he struggled with depression. His name is on a list of famous and very successful people who have had depression, bi-polar, or schizophrenia. The worst thing about depression, or any mental illness, is that it creates wounds that no one can see. It can be like you're trying to get through life with a missing limb, or your insides are hanging out, and no one can see it. Sorry to be so graphic. It has to be sensed, to be felt. Medication can help but it doesn't "cure" depression. It's a struggle and some days are worse than others. I've been at that point where I lost all hope on several occasions and it's a horrible place to be. He was so talented and gifted. I know he must have struggled immensely. I watched a video of him with Koko the gorilla--she had been feeling sad after the death of a gorilla friend, and he made her "laugh". She "asked" him to "tickle me". Her caretakers said she felt "sad" when she learned of his death. He touched people--human and non-human--on so many levels. God understands when someone reaches that point where they feel all hope is gone. Even if a lot of people don't, God does. Cindy

Hearing the news of Robin Williams death was so sad. But then came the news that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which was even harder to swallow. My family is going through that journey with my Dad so I have some idea of how that affects one's outlook on life moving forward. If he was suffering from depression along with the PD and living the expectation of the world around him that he had to keep everyone laughing that would have been a very difficult spot to be in. I wish like millions of other people that he could have been helped in some way that might have saved his life and put a smile in his own heart. But I know he is now resting in peace and my heart goes out to his family and friends. He truly put smiles on faces young and old all over the world and will not soon be forgotten.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn
