I found my "Lilly Belle" by the road on the way to the mail box this morning. She was the mighty hunter. She liked to scout around for things and was a loving kind kitty. She would not stay in the barn or the house. I knew ther were chances but I feel if she did not live like she wanted why the bother. Hey we all take chances.
I want to have a place to bury her and make it special. I guess I could make a garden place and anyone else who passes could go there. I have not lost a pet in a long time. My sweetie man is going to bury her for me when he gets home from work.

If any of you have speical ideas please send them to me. I'll want a marker too with her name on it. I want a special place.

Hi Joni, Sorry about Lilly Belle. It is always so sad. We used to bury all our animals between our pasture and the pig pen. I don't know why that pen but I guess because there was some room there. Cats, dogs, bunnies, chickens----you name it they are there---goldfish, turtles. If you found a place you could ring it in rocks and maybe plant a memory bush there. Only a suggestion. Now my daughter had her horse cremated and she has a small trunk type in her bedroom. Good Luck!

Joni, even though we know they must live how they need to, it is so heart-wrenching to lose them. My dearest cat in the world was hit - intentionally - by a car. It just broke my heart. I buried her in a pretty spot and found a flat stone and painted her name on it and placed it over her resting place.

When my beloved Daisy (13 year old basset hound I had had since she was 8 weeks old)died I buried her near my garden and planted marguerite daisys over her grave (lots of them)
Maybe you could plant lillies on her grave site???

Joni, when we had to put my Lucy cat down this past summer, the Vet's office was so thoughtful that they made a paw-print on a little piece of heart-shaped clay for me to take home and bake in the oven as a memory. They even imprinted her name on it with rubber stamps. I've been planning to put it in a shadow box with my favorite photo of her, a special Christmas ornament that was "hers," and a couple of other things to remember her by. I'll just hang it on a wall out of the way, so I can see it when I'm at my desk and smile.

It's hard to lose a pet, hope you're doing okay!

Joni (and Susan)... I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always heartwrenching to lose our little buddies. Our pets are buried next to the wall of DH's workshop; just knowing where is comforting. I hope your garden idea works out. That sounds lovely.

So very sorry for your loss. I'm still grieving for the loss of our dog this past August. It's rough

We have our own pet cemetary going in the filed above the house. It all started w/ two chickens.

All the graves have zinnias that come back each year. The dogs get special hand thrown pottery grave markers. Abby's came out of the kiln last week and will be displayed this weekend for the pottery festival. The potter will bring it over after the festival is over.

Mark the graves and visit as often as you need. Sometimes I find myself looking toward the hill throughout the day.
