Does anyone have any ideas for how to felt alpaca fleece? I have 2 bags of older alpaca fleece in the garage. Also, if anyone wants some of it to use themselves, I will send some to them if they will pay the postage to mail it to them.

Thanks!

Teri, that video is delightful! I always thought alpaca resisted felting, kind of like cashmere. I'm really inspired to do something like the lady in the video has done -- that finished piece she displayed (with the organza in it) was gorgeous.

Linda, if you felt something with your alpaca, I hope you'll share pictures :)

Rosemary,
I know right? I love to watch what all the others do in other countries ... They are just leaps and bounds ahead in the wool dept. Guess that comes from having sheep for 100's of years ... This country is still a bit behind in the sheep population. With KY. being mostly "Hair sheep":(
I call them the lazy shepherds sheep ... lol!
I love felting and hope to make a hat from just the roving this winter.

Linda,
What do you want to do with it? Do you have something in mind?

Nothing really in mind - I'm more into quilting and project sewing than felting the alpaca fleece. I've felted wool sweaters I got at thrift shops and made purses and bags from them, but not sure what to do with felted fleece. What type of hat do you make with the fleece?

something like this only it is NOT knit and then felted ... it is done with roving.
