Aunt Jenny's quilting frame finally reminded me to ask this: As a quilter, I seem to end up quilting each project differently ( hoop, small frame, basting etc... and wondered if you are all the same.
Jenny where did your frame come from? Are there plans? I like that it comes apart easily and has options for the rails. Will you also use this for rug hooking? I showed dH your picture and he said he would make me one . If there are plans that would make it a piece of cake, but he's a smart guy; he'll figure it out either way! I still love that quilt by the way!

Hi Bramble, I just posted the same question to Jenny, but in a different topic - I saw the frame on her blog and was wondering if hubby could make one for me. I don't have any sort of frame, so I have always quilted with a round hoop (I think it is about 20" across) - even double bed quilts, but a frame would be so much easier (and it wouldn't end up dragging on the floor!) And I love that autumn quilt. Best wishes, Jayne |

I wish there HAD been plans. I ordered it on Ebay and I am so so happy with it!! I think it would be easy to do now that I have it. I would be happy to trace the side peices and foot part ..that would be the hard part..the dimensions I guess..as soon as I take my quilt off it. I don't know how it would work for rug hooking..hmmmm guess you COULD do that. If it were a big enough rug to make it worthwhile to take up the space. My husband's first words when I set it up were "I could have just made that!" and I gave him the standard answer.."but WOULD you?" He is so busy that I know it would be a long wait. I will be glad to trace the sides for you gals though so you could have your husband's make one. I am so happy with it!!

Jenny you make me laugh! Our husbands must be cut from the same cloth, and your response is what mine always is! I have learned to steer him toward things he can make me for holidays,b-days and anniversaries that give him a time line! That way they don't get pushed off to finish something else. Works so far! Last year I got a butcher block counter top "for my birthday" and shaker boxes for Christmas! And you are sweet to offer to trace it, I would love it! Whenever it's convenient would be great.
Jayne- I quilt the same way, wherever and however it works for the moment. Our last house had hooks in the living room ceiling beams and I was told it was to "store" a quilting frame when not being worked on. Kind of a unique way to save on space! The house was 214 years old when we moved in so it made sense to me, they were in the right spots. When I was in college I went to an auction with my beau who was too cheap to loan me $20.00 to buy an antique cherry quilting frame that no one else was bidding on. I still think about that frame and wonder where it went. The beau...not so much, didn't marry that one and GLAD of it!

Bramble and Jenny, I think all hubbies I know are the same - we have timber in our shed that is for 'such and such' a project, but if it ever ends up being built is another question. (Although can we talk - I have, lets just say, A LOT of fabric waiting to be made into quilts - I've even chosen the designs!!) Oh, for more time in each day!! Wouldn't you love to see that quilting frame again - I love old equipment like that. I just bought a spinning wheel on ebay and the lady I bought it from was so happy because I emailed her to ask about its history. I found out the wheel even has a name - named by the first owner whose hubby made it for her (that is woodworking talent!!) She is called Topsy and I'm so happy to know about Topsy and have her join our family! Best wishes, Jayne |

Thanks for looking Susan, it does look pretty easy. I think Jenny's appeals to me because you can set it up and take it down quickly without too much fuss and it is easy to adjust for different sizes. My tiny house needs things that don't have to be stationery for too long! Jayne-Glad "Topsy" joined a household that appreciates her, happy spinning!
