Hi all you farm girls. It has been quite a while since I have been on here. I have had a hectic year and a half since my mother passed away. I finally got my mentally handicapped sister away from my alcoholic half sister and her boyfriend. By the time DCF called me about 6 weeks ago to take her. She was in a mess . I cried when I saw her. She had lost 50 lbs. Her hair had not been groomed or cut. She was an emotional wreck. She was trying to hold her pants up with one hand and ran to me when she saw me. Her pants was so big on her because of all the weight she had lost. She grabbed a hold of me and cried and would not let go. I had to sleep with her the first night she was at my house. She was so scared they were coming back to get her or beat on her. I had not seen her in 9 months. I prayed every night that she did not think I had abandoned her. I prayed and put my trust in God to get her out of there safely. God finally answered my prayers. I have placed her in a beautiful assisted living home about 5 miles down the road from me. She loves it there. My friends run it. She is finally in safe hands. She has put about 10 lbs back on and looks beautiful again. I bought her a whole new wardrobe, new shoes, hair colored and cut. She loves makeup and jewelry. So i bought her a small vanity and decked it out for her. She is happy again. Its the first time she has been happy since my mother passed away. Now since God has taken my fears away I am hoping to get back to my gardening and sewing. I hope everyone has been happy and been doing good. I have missed talking to you girls and seeing all the great gardens and sewing.

I'm so glad your sister is in a good place and is happy. I've seen so many cases where mentally challenged people were treated as if their happiness didn't matter. And your half-sister and her boyfriend will get what they deserve--not said to be mean, it's just how karma works.

Dorinda,
Welcome back! What you have been though has made you a stronger, better person. Sometimes we have to do what we never knew we could do. It is so hard to understand cruelty and neglect, especially in those we know or are related to. But it doesn't take understanding, it takes action.
Your sister is so lucky to have your love and support.
I believe your Mother is looking down on what you have done with peace and pride.

What a wonderful ending to a horrid story. My heart goes out to you for the months you suffered. I am glad everything has worked out.

I have always been told..if God brings you too it..He will help you through it...your sister is so blessed to have you. So sorry for all you have had to endure. Blessings..and praying all will continue to be good.

So glad you have your sister back!!! What an ordeal you have been through and glad its over for you both and you were able to rescue your sister.Sounds like she is happy and safe again thanks to you not giving up. God Bless you for who you are and all that you have done. Take some time for yourself you sure have earned it. So sorry you lost your Mom but I bet she knows all that you have done and is very proud of you.

Oh Dorinda, Bless you for taking such good care of your sister and making sure she has all the happiness she deserves. Bless both your hearts.
Sorry to hear that you have been through so much stress and worry, and on top of that the loss of your mother, too.
