I am very sentimental when it comes to my grandpa who died in 1982. I come from a long line of farmers and the farm my dad was raised on was torn down for liability purposes a few years back. There were broken pieces of stain glass laying on the ground I picked up what I could and had someone make my parents and siblings each an ornament made with the glass. Here is mine, actually I still hang two in my bathroom. The only other thing I have of his is a live hoya plant I call grandpa. Yes, I have keptit alive since 1982. It even blooms once in a while. ![]() |

Oh Kem, I love it!! & that plant knows what it is doing, keeping his memory alive.

Wonderful idea, Kem. I want to do this for my Mother who died 3 years ago at age 95. She did stained glass at one time and I have some of those pieces. MB

That ornament is so beautiful and what a wonderful way to keep him "lighting your way" with the help of the sun.
I also love the plant as a remembrance. An old bachelor friend, when his mother passed away, gave me her Christmas cactus, that had been in their home as long as he could remember. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to take care of it, so now Nyla has been a part of our home for about 10 years. He likes to check on "her" when he comes for a visit. Susan

Thanks for all the nice comments. I don't know why but these give me the connection I need until I see my grandfather in the next world. Cindy Lou, nice to know I am not the only other one that has a sentimental plant with a name.
