How do you ladies keep your homemade dishwasher detergent from hardening? I have to chisel some each time I use it. I keep it in an airtight container, perhaps that's the problem?

We keep ours in a jar and so far it's not getting hard. And I don't know how often you use yours but ours is used everyday.
