I have had 15 years on this hill. I feel that a BIG change is in the works. We are looking to sell and move to a much smaller place we have 10000 square feet and for the most part it is only me.I am thinking to Moscow ID, where my DD lives and so I would have a better chance to get a job. And be able to help her with here kids 7 and 4. And I would not have enough to do with out this Giant life and I wouldn't mind working part time again. I really think the best plan is to rent. I would be able to do a garden much smaller. Walk more places less gas.No house to keep fixing. So many of you are trying to find that place in the country I think I am ready for the city. How do you ever get rid of 40 years of stuff. I don't need much but seem to have lots. Thanks for letting me ramble.

It's okay to ramble Diana. I'm sure your DD would love having you close to help. Maybe you could have a Giant yard sale and sell whaat you do not want. Good luck.

Wow, Diana! BIG changes on the horizon, huh? SO exciting, and yet, I can also see how daunting it must be for you. Don't worry... Pick away at it little by little, and before you know it, you'll have accomplished mighty things and will be enjoying a wonderful new beginning. Craigslist and EBay are great places to find new homes for stuff. You just never know who will buy what. For larger items, indicate that they will be for pick up only so you don't have to pay a ton of postage. Other things, can be traded here for postage. I know you probably know all that. I just wanted to say that I may be interested in yarn and crochet and knit tools in exchange for postage.

First of all, AWESOME! Like you, I prefer the city. We're hoping to go back to Norfolk, VA or somewhere in Europe when we're done here in Hickory.
That said, I would recommend something like the packing party suggested by the Minimalists (http://theminimalists.com). Basic jist: pack everything in your home as if you are moving that day labeling carefully, even the bed and sheets. That night, go ahead and unpack only what you need for that night and first thing the next day. Continue this process each day over the course of 21 days. In the meantime anything that is trash, is garbaged. Anything you don't want is donated or sold on Craigslist or Ebay. At the end go through all the boxes, pull out anything seasonal or that you will definitely need / use. Get rid of / donate / sell the rest.
