This photo was taken when we were on our recent trip to Arizona. We were stopped in construction somewhere north of Kanab, Utah. I was bored and decided to capture the only positive thing I could find. A blooming cactus is definately a positive thing!

I love it when the cacti bloom! I am not an Arizona native, but lived in Phoenix for several years and Tucson for a couple. Met my hubby at college in Phoenix and our kids (now adults) were born there. My hubby is a native of Tucson, with family living on a huge cattle ranch near Florence. My daughter now lives in the Phoenix area with her hubby and family.
Soooooo, we spend a LOT of time in Arizona. The desert is usually at it's finest in bloom in March when all the cacti are blooming!
My hubby taught me a lot about the desert and it's beauty!

CJ,

My dad lives in Florence. I love love love the desert there. While sitting in his backyard the other day, I was amazed at the wildlife living there. There was constant movement from birds, rabbits, squirrels, and quail. An amazing place indeed.

My only regret about that cactus is that we didn't sit in construction long enough to see it bloom completely. Must have been an awesome sight.

That is great! The desert in bloom is quite spectacular. I saw it once years ago. Thank you for sharing your picture with us.

Here is a picture of the area in which the cactus picture was taken. If you look close, you can see the cactus teetering on the edge of the cliff. This area is so breath-taking.
