Did you all make May baskets and hang them on the neighbors door and ring the doorbell and then run like crazy? I did and my kids did. They rode their ponies down the road and left flowers on the few neighbors porches. Do kids still do that today? MB

That sounds like fun Mary Beth! My boys would live to do that! Maybe a little late now...what is the tradition? Do you only do it on May 1st?

A May 1st tradition. anybody can do it. We used to make paper baskets to put the flowers in.
One of the most popularly known May Day traditions is to hang a basket full of spring flowers and/or other small gifts on a neighbor's doorknob. The trick is you don't want the neighbor to see you! Google 'flower basket May 1st tradition'. Only on May 1st but what a fun idea anytime. MB

I have done it for years and years. First when I was I child and when my daughters were younger. My youngest daughter is now 17 years old and this is the second year we haven't made them. Makes me sad, it was such fun!!

I tied ribbons and streamers around the maple tree in my front yard--have always wanted to have a Maypole--just looks so pretty.
