our new to us apartment has a teensy back patio consisting of square "tiles" --many of them are covered around the edges with what I call lichen...not mold---
short of getting down on hands and knees- how can I refresh them and make them "clean"-- I also want to be eco friendly in this....

You can try oxyclean mixed at the strongest rate. 30 seconds outdoor cleaner will probably work best. It has bleach in it so be careful. Spray it on at a dilution of 1:1 until it is just wet and let it sit for a few minutes. If it soaks in you may have to spray it more than once to keep the surface moist. Then scrub the area with a stiff brush and rinse with water. We use this when we have lichen because it's tough to kill and remove. Good luck!
