I was driving to my parents' house this evening and as I was driving down a stretch of highway that bordered a "creek" (this "creek" was originally thought to be a river by Lewis & Clark) and I saw three YOUNG children--they looked to be about three or four years old--playing IN the water at the edge of the creek. There were no adults in sight. They were on the opposite side of the creek from where I was so I pulled over and called the police to let them know of this very dangerous situation. Now, I played along creeks when I was young, but I was older, and there weren't any creeks as wide and deep as this one where I grew up. I can't help wondering, where were these kids parents? When I was that young, there were strict limits on how far from the house I could go. And there wasn't a river-sized creek near my house. This is like letting your kids wander across a four-lane highway. I hope the kids were safe and I hope the parents got a strict lecture. Sheesh. Cindy

That is scary Cindy. I have a hard time seeing children in dangerous situations because the parents are not watching them. I hope and pray that they are safe too!

So scary Cindy. Glad that you called the authorities. Parents need to watch their children. Hope that the children are okay. Laurie

Good for you calling the police. I don't understand some parents, little ones that age are silent and fast you have to watch them like a hawk. To those little ones running water is neat, they're curious but they certainly don't understand danger. It's providence that you drove by at that moment.
