and let's chat.

So much has been going on. First and foremost, I lost my mom 3 weeks ago. I am stunned, shocked and yet is some ways, relieved it was quick for her. She has a heart attack with no warning, symptoms, nothing. Never really had been sick a day in her life and no surgeries, no meds, not even an aspirin. I think it has forced me to live life NOW...and I am no longer holding back on what I want.

This pushed me to finally resign my job. I had the boss from hades, who undermined me every step of the way and is so calculated, everyone sees it and no one does a thing.

I don't know what to do with the next 40 years of my life but it ain't gonna be what I did the first 40. : )

I am wanting to get more into health, well being, yoga, photography and reading (again). I still like living a small, simple life and I want to put the finishing touches on my home, even if it's just a few curtains and some paint. And I am still holding onto my someday dream of finding that little cottage by the beach. Oh yes..it will happen.

I may go back to college or I may pick up a basic job, something to keep food on the table and money in my pocket to have fun but NOTHING like I was doing in healthcare.

I feel like this is a significant time for me to polish off the diamond I am and shine brightly. That is one of the reasons I am back on these boards. I want to get back to my simple farm girl in flip flops way. I am going to start slow, maybe with some homemade laundry soap and planting a small bed of flowers and go from there. Looking forward to catching up!!!

Heather...Sometimes we need a wake-up call to put life back into perspective for us. It sounds like your mom's passing did that
for you. When my dad died I was just getting ready to turn 50 and I went through a year of self examination and then came a time
of renewal and rebirth and re-inventing myself so to speak (with a lot of help from God). But I found that I too had to let go
of an emotionally and spiritually un-healthy job. And get back to a simpler way of life...as my health had been impacted by the
stress of some really un-godly corporate bosses. I just up and quit one morning. Hadn't planned to when I went to work (though I
had wanted to quit for about 6 months) but I went up to my Boss and said, "Isn't it a Beautiful Morning Today?" She mumbles, Yes!
And I said, "Here...and I handed her all my keys (as I was a Manager) and said I think it is time for me to go get a LIFE!" And I
walked out on MY TERMS and MY TIME and it Felt LIFE CHANGING AND LIBERATING! And she just stood there with her mouth open and
my keys in her hands and I walked away and never looked back.

So, polish that Diamond Girl Until It Shines and make life happen YOUR WAY...and you will never regret it! And WELCOME BACK
to MJF!

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

HEATHER , first I am so sorry about your mom.

And for the second I am happy you are changing your life and going after what you want. We only have one life live it the way you want, for your mom would want you to.
You go girl! We will cheer you on.

Thanks for the inspiration. Yep- moving on from the corporate chaos. A week before my Mom's passing, my blood pressure shot up high enough to send me to the ER. The job, title, money, prestige (I work fro what will be THE premier health and wellness campus in the country) is not worth it. My boss basically is condescending, immoral and just a big old (insert bad word here). LOL

I pray a lot and I am at peace with it all. It means losing a lot of good people around me because 1. They don't get it 2. They think I am bailing on the project 3. They really were never my friends to begin with. Oh well.

I quit a couple jobs that just weren't working for me. The best job leaving I had was when I was working for a third party collector. I was that person who called and told you to pay your past due credit card to me. I am Buddhist and I had to find the "rightness" of my work. I just couldn't be mean to and harass people as the others did so I decided that I was helping people heal their finances. I would tell people that they could talk with me or the account would be sold to someone who wouldn't be so nice. The people who worked with me liked me and I was able to get them good settlements but I wasn't collecting enough for the company. I was taken to the office and told that today was my last day. I felt relieved. I was gracious and complimentary about my horrible boss. I told the truth when I said that I had learned a lot while working there. **hint, hint** The amazing thing is I had scheduled an interview for the next day and I went home smiling. I can honestly say that the day I was fired from that collection job was one of the top 5 best days of my life.

Heather, I am very sorry for your loss. It takes devastating events to change the way we look at our lives.
Often it is the simpler things in life that bring us joy and fulfillment. I admire your outlook and your appreciation for the important things in life. I am months away from my 40th birthday, and I agree whole-heartedly with you... The next 40 are going to be better than the first. Not that they were all that bad, I just want to start "living"! We are all here for you--
