This is all getting too weird. The USPS has reached a dead end on finding the person who put my mail on hold. Can't go into detail, but I've been getting lots of phone calls from people in other states who don't leave a message. I have their numbers but not their names, and I can't find out their names. i usually don't get very many wrong calls. I've gotten two calls--no messages--from an agency that informs you when your personal info. has been violated.Maybe they were just attempting to sell me their service--or maybe it's something more sinister. I've gotten weird calls before, but lately it just seems extreme. Even my spam messages have gotten weirder. Is it just the Ides of March or is something strange going on here? I don't know what this person is capable of, but she's unhinged. I know that much. I don't feel worried so much as flabbergasted. When it rains, it pours. Cindy

Cindy - I am concerned. Maybe it's time to consider discussing this with the police. They will be able to help you sort through what is happening, identify any concerns and advise you as to what your next steps should be. I would just feel so much better if you spoke with the authorities. It may just be a silly coincidence, but following your instincts is always the safest bet. I'll be praying for you! Please keep us posted, okay? Oh - and the Post Office should be investigating this a bit more seriously. They should have video of the person who withheld your mail, as well as a signature card. That is mail fraud, and comes with a heavy penalty. It's no joke. The police will definitely want to know about that. That IS serious! Do not fear exposing someone who needs help - but definitely take the potential danger to yourself very, very seriously, okay? I really am concerned. Hugs - Nini

If it is coincidence, it is seriously spooky! And since I actually do not believe in coincidences, I 100 percent agree with Nini! You have every right/reason to be concerned, and I would certainly do as she recommends an talk to the police! Most definitely praying Cindy!

I agree with the others. At least in talking with the police they may be able to direct you to someone that knows more about how to protect you (and your personal information). You may find out you're not alone and may be able to help a case they already have against this person. I too will be praying for you Cindy. This is too crazy!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. You will be in my prayers. I agree that it is time to speak with someone of authority about this. If only to make you feel more at ease. These are difficult days in our world, and people are capable of many things, sometimes bad things and I don't want anything happening that you could prevent now.

I'm hesitant to go to the police cause I went to them back when I discovered someone had put my mail on hold, and they dismissed me. and there's no photo record of who did it cause she did it over the phone. I know WHO she is, I just don't know what she's capable of.She's the friend of a friend of mine, and I plan to talk to him soon. He's upset about it and maybe he can shed some light on this person's mental state. if I don't get some sort of resolution I think I'll mention it to my lawyer. Cindy

Oh snap! I did not know you know WHO it is! That concerns me even more! Please please please be careful! I would totally go to the police, if for no other reason, so that they have a record of it!

Well, I found out ALL the unfamiliar calls I've been getting are scammers--now I just need to go back to the date this all started and try to pinpoint a cause.Did she give my phone number to all these places? Just to harass me? Saw my friend and he was friendly but I could tell by the look on his face not to push him for info. about this person. He looked upset. I want answers but I don't want to push a friend too far--well, I can wait a long time for answers. I've waited years for answers before, and I always found them, in God's own time. Cindy

I am happy you are feeling better. Still, go to the police and at least file a complaint.

Check the ftc.gov web site for information on how to protect yourself from identity theft.
I had an identity theft problem many years ago, and the police were not much help, they are restricted from what they can do until your loss exceeds a certain amount of money. Since I hadn't actually lost any money (I did not have to pay for the items that were ordered in my name and sent to someone else's address) they would not pursue the matter. I think the companies that send the merchandise are the ones with the most clout to get some action through the legal system.
So the best thing you could do in the short term is protect yourself from credit issues, I think. Use the information on the web site http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/feature-0014-identity-theft. I found it very helpful during my problem.
I so sympathize with you, there is nothing worse than knowing that your secure world has been violated and you don't know when the next "attack" is going to come, or where it's going to come from. Hugs from a fellow farmgirl!
I also subscribe to a service that warns me if there is hanky-panky going on with my information online. Send me an email if you want specifics.
