Good grief, I will spray paint just about anything that is not moving! Here is what I did with an old tin cake cover, complete with clear plastic handle, and a silverplate casserole dish holder...
1 can of glossy black spray paint, a sheet of adhesive circle stickers (like the ones you would use for pricing garage sale items) and a sunny warm day... I stuck on the stickers, spray painted over them and then removed them..so the silver would show through.
it doesn't get any easier then that!

That is lovely. I have an old cake tin to redo. It is aluminum. What kind of spray paint did you use? Is it safe for foods? I am waiting for a good sunny day to paint mine.

Betty, I use Krylon spray paint. I don't know if it is food safe... but I figure for what little I use this for and that the food is not really in contact with the paint,,, it should be ok...I didn't spray the inside of the cake cover...

Thanks you! I have krylon paint so will give that a try. I wasn't going to do the inside on mine either. Now to wait on this new cold spell to pass through and for it to get warm again to paint it!

My Husband says you can spray paint in colder weather just place spray can in a small bucket( with the cap on ) of hot tap water wait a few moments and then spray your object. He has done a few items for me and it work just fine. Janice Vintage Artist

yep,,, as long as the 'spray paint & the sprayed' items are kept at room temp... you should be fine... I have been known to spray out side in snow and bring the object into the laundry room to dry... I will bring the can of paint into the laundry room an hour before painting...oh and I usually do this when hubby is at work... cuz it drives him crazy when I do this.. I remind him that the 'painted snow' will melt away and no one will ever be the wiser! snork, giggle,,, :>)

Any suggestions for painting wooden chairs? I am planning on flea marketing old chairs this spring for our dining room. I want to paint them all black. Would spray paint be a good idea? Thanks for any advice.

Jenny, I'm kinda like Gracie and have spray painted numerous items. I'd think spray paint on your chairs would work just fine. I'd just be sure to clean any dirt or grime off of them, sand or scrape any already existing loose paint smooth and if there are any loose joints or part, be sure to glue them back solid before painting. Hope that helps! CJ
