AKA, thrifting!! Today I found a few great finds! AND it was all 50% off!!!!! I love these days!

so I found some Origami paper from Japan (not China, like the kind I got at Michaels....) One of my goals for this year is to fold 1,001 origami cranes and I've got about 55 so far! This paper is so beautiful and delicate! And the prints remind me of kimono!

And here is my pride and joy!!! at 50 cents each, I went a little crazy and the only reason there isn't any more is my tot was getting antsy so I had to hurry! But, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare!! I mean, that's a must have in every personal library! (IMHO...) I started reading "The Moonflower Vine" by Jetta Carleson and so far I like it. I think I may send it out as a traveling book! Anyway, I feel good tonight!

How fun! Oh, the Avalon series. Have you read it before? It's one of the few fiction books that I've read more than once.

Take a picture of all your cranes as your collection grows, would love to see them.

Avalon is a series? I too would like to see the cranes....and just what will you do with that many cranes? I love a good book find and at .50 cents each...well, I don't think I could read fast enough.

Hugs and prayers, Daizy

Wendy, I love the Avalon series! I started with "The Mists of Avalon" in high school and over the years I've read "The Lady of Avalon" and "The Foresthouse." When we moved up here, my collection got lost in the shuffle, so I am very happy to find this one!

Daizy, I just woke up one morning and decided to try something different that was creative and busy and 1001 cranes is very lucky in Japanese culture. The paper is a little pricy, but some of them I've cut into quarters and made smaller ones, but it's pretty difficult to make the small ones. So far I've only folded about 55, but I try to get in ten every few days. When I've reached 1001, I plan to string them up and make a long garland!

Here's my basket. It's already overflowing, so I may start stinging them up now...

These are a few of my favorites!

In honor of Sadako you could send the cranes off to Japan and they place them at the foot of her statue.
My students and I did that one year and they loved knowing they were represented. :0)
