We have had some beautiful Huskies over the years. Now that they have all gone to the Great Doggie Park, we only have our backyard birds, lizards, and a few squirrels who seem to fight with us over our peaches, apricots, and plums. We miss our dogs, but are able to travel more without having to worry about them. Our city will not allow us to have chickens, so we are happy to feed our birds and enjoy learning about them. They love their bird baths and feeders. We have built little rock piles in different places in the yard for the lizards to call home, complete with little watering stations for them. We have watering places for the bees, butterflies, and dragonflies, too! We don't have large animals, but our tiny creatures are so entertaining!

I LOVE animals. I grew up a dairy farm so had cows, cats, and blue heelers. My sister raised pigs. I’ve always had dogs and cats. Right now I have 30 layer hens, one rooster, honey bees (my first year), one cat, and three dogs. I will add Muscovy ducks and meat birds soon as well as hair sheep. It’s finally not 10,000 degrees in South Texas so I can get back to building enclosures and such.

Wow, Shennandoah! You've really gotten yourself busy in the animal department! You are building your farm nicely. I'm glad that it is not so hot right now. It was super hot here in Southern California, too. H - E - double hockey sticks hot!! Keep on building your farm!

Nancy Joplin We did the same thing and after all of our pets died we decided to just feed the wildlife instead. The only issue was that after years of doing that rats began to take over so we had to stop.
Shennandoah, I understand about the heat. We live in Florida and I am ready to go where there are no more hurricanes and cooler weather. LOL There is a little park in our town that we go to and the other day for the first time I saw one lonely Muscovy duck.
