Thought about doing a Traveling Book. Low and behold, I opened up my new Mary Jane Farm Magazine that I received today and there under Random Acts of Green is an article about traveling books.
I posted information about Little Heathens Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression by Mildred Armstrong Kalish. on the Reading Room Thread.
Ally wants to read this book so I offered to let her read mine and asked her if she thought it would be fun to do a Traveling Book. She thought it would be great.
Here are the details:
Sign up here and I will let Ally know who is signs up next.
When you finish the book, leave a message here or email me and I will let you know who and where to send the book next.
Please sign YOUR NAME INSIDE WITH YOUR STATE, (CITY IF YOU WOULD LIKE) AND THE DATE YOU FINISHED THE BOOK. It would be fun to see how far and long it travels before wearing out.
Send the book by MEDIA MAIL if desired to save on postage.
Please don't sign up if you can't get it read in 3 WEEKS or less and mailed out within 3 days of verification of the next person to receive this book. Others will be waiting.
Please let me know when you have finished the book and are ready to send it on. I will then email the next person to verify that they do in fact still want to read the book. If life has interfered and you aren't able to read at that time, I will be glad to place you on the list for another time.
Since I'm new at this, I think I covered all the necessary information. I decided to place the book under Barters since more of you come here. If you have any questions, ask here or email me. I welcome suggestions.

Hello Ladies,
I have move the book Little Heathens Hard Times and High Spirits on an Iowa Farm During the Great Depression by Mildred Armstrong Kalish here from the Barters. It was getting lost in the Barter Thread.

Just wondering where the book Little Heathens is at this time. Has it moved on to Heather yet? Please keep us informed of it's location. It's fun for all of us to see where it travels.

I have the book and am about half way done with it. I really like the chapters on thrift and medicine. Lots of good ideas.

I haven't heard if Marie has been able to send the book on yet. I know lots of things can happen. If she is unable to send it on, I have another copy and will send it out to the next in line. Will wait a little while longer though. Hope all is well with Marie.

I received the book yesterday & already started it last night. I was so glad to get it, I had been to the library earlier & everything I was hoping to get was already checked out so it was a pleasant surprise when I checked the mailbox.
