Well that is where I'm starting anyway. Lots of other areas to get to. But started with the kitchen. Lots of things to the goodwill and to the attic. Of course when I get to organizing the attic lots more will go. Making choices on what to keep and let go of can be hard, but I'm being brave and letting go.

Good for you Nancy Jo! I need to fine tune a few areas too and do another inventory :)

Yay! Don't know your reasoning - may just be like me, and doing it, but you are doing great! I'm currently going through my bedroom, which also is my craft room, and my closet. Just in the cleaning and purging mood :)

I feel the need to reduce and reorganize myself. It just must be something about the New Year that makes us stop and access our surroundings.

It is so hard to let things go isn't it. But good for you. I say that because I am not as brave as you. haha! MB

I, too, need to do some of that in my kitchen. This summer I did MAJOR "overhaul" and reorganize of everything in my project room and hall closet . . . amazing what one finds!

I have been doing this a lot lately too. I just get to bogged down with so much "stuff" around. I have one room in particular that is a thorn in my side but I have made quite a dent in there and hope to continue. There is something about the new year that makes me want to purge things out of here. I have already made a trip to the thrift to drop off two big bags of stuff.

Good for you!!!! When we moved north, we had to get rid of so much stuff, and it was hard because there were things I wouldn't have gotten rid of if I didn't have to! So now purging for me, yet...I'm still collecting! Keep up the good work, Nancy Jo!

Today I bought three kinds of flour which I will be experimenting with to start making some of my own bread. I realized that the cupboard I wished to put it in was terribly disorganized. I took everything out and looked at what I had. We buy in bulk and put stuff in unmarked paper bags so I really didn't know what or how much I had.

I found a partial bag of popcorn kernels and one bag in which popcorn and quinoa had been mixed. I used a colander to separate them and placed them in their proper containers on the counter. I stored the excess in well-marked containers. I found some pistashios I had forgotten about and a couple small bags of herbs.

I labeled all the containers and stacked them neatly. I do not yet have containers for the flour so I marked the bags and put them all together on the shelf. This feels so good.

When life gets so busy, its easy to let organization slide. After the holidays when all the hustle and bustle calms down, I like to sort and purge. Cold and blustery January is good for that. Time to nest!

I agree but maybe you will inspire me with your great pics. I have help right now through the va to help get the house in order for country and his walker, but a part of me doesn't want to throw out things but this is when I have the help. your pics and blog are inspiring.

Worked on my bookcases yesterday. I looked back and I made 18 trips to Goodwill last year with donations. Now one this year so far. It is hard to let go.....I still have so much more that only I care about, and I need to keep going! Good for you. It is a good thing to do on a cold snowy day! Well, here it was a cold non-snowy day, but down to 26 degrees!
