Have you ever thought at the end of the year, "What did I do with myself this year? Where did the time go?" I wrote these posts as an antidote to that kind of thinking. This post is part one. I'll have more next time!

I'm slowly getting back into sewing this year. With Pinterest inspiration I made these pillows for Christmas for my gkids this year. I really had a blast with the process of making things again!

Look forward to trying new projects in the New Year!

Blessings,
Linda

Sarah,
It is so much fun to see your collection! Were you really new to sewing this year? That is a good example for your kids, as a home-schooling mom. I bet it also helps bring you back to finish incomplete projects too.

By the way I really like the sleeves on the white top, if you used a pattern, would you mind sharing the number?

The quilting is delightful, that is something I'd love to learn. I especially like the yellow combination.

It's such a great idea to keep a record of what is accomplished. I just may follow your example this year. I tend to pick a craft, do a bunch, give them away as gifts and move on before I feel I've really mastered any one area.

Have a great (and productive) New Year!
Susan

Susan,
I wasn't new to sewing quilts, I've been quilting since I was 16. But garment construction is a totally different world, and I had a very hard time wrapping my head around the differences. Although I'd made a couple of things, they never turned out really well. Now I feel much more confident in my abilities. The pattern for the white Taffy Blouse is included in the Colette Pattern Book here:

This book was really instrumental in helping me build my skills this last year and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn how to make clothes.

You've been a good example. I got my first sewing project of the year pinned on fabric last night, a flannel nightgown that sounds so cozy for the bitter cold expected this next week. One thing I find hard to remember with garment sewing is to have the ironing board set up and ready, it makes a lot of difference in getting things to fit together well.
Stay warm!
Susan
