I am not a big tv person, but I do love Christmas movies. Have a collection and there are my favorites. Love Bing Crosby, would you believe I finally saw White Christmas last night for the first time?! Loved it! Now it's one of my favorites, as Bing singing "White Christmas" is my favorite song. Other favorite movies are Christmas with the Kranks, the Santa Clause 1 and 2 (3 was ok, not great). Also watch the Grinch. Jim Carrey is a nut and a genius! Of course, there's It's A Wonderful Life. One of the greatest ever but always chokes me up. And have you ever seen "A Dog Named Christmas" on Hallmark? I love that one. What about you? HO HO HO!

I simply adore White Christmas. It isn't Christmas for me of I don't see it.

Now for the newbie movies: I also love The Santa Clause 1&2, the Polar Express and Elf.

I think A Christmas Story is by far my favorite! I also like Christmas Vacation and Elf.

There are several Christmas movies that I like, but I think that "PRANCER" is my all time favorite. It is so sweet and just reminds me, so much, of different aspects of growing up on a farm.

We also enjoy "THE CHRISTMAS BOX" . . .

Probably won't get to watch either this year because our VCR isn't working and we need to buy a new TV in order to watch DVDs. (Our TV that connected to the DVD player died).

Yeah... I love "A Christmas Story," "Christmas Vacation," and "Elf," too... along with "The Santa Clause" 1 & 2 (we actually left the theatre at some point during #3), "The Grinch" (Jim Carrey is perfect in the lead! Crack...Me... Up...!), and the rest... And although it's not exactly a "Christmas" movie, I love watching "Little Women" with Winona Ryder this time of year, too... But my all-time favorite is definitely, "It's A Wonderful Life." It always makes me think of my grandfather and my girlfriend's stepfather - two of the sweetest, most loving, caring, optimistic true gentlemen that ever lived. Gets me right in the heart every time!

You know, Jan, after all these years, I have still yet to have watched "White Christmas." You weren't alone in that, Nicole. I've caught scenes here and there, but never watched it in its entirety (I've never seen "Gone With The Wind," either.). I will definitely try to watch it this year because, you're right - I just love listening to Bing Crosby singing the song.. It will be nice to have a story to go along with it! :)

Hugs and Happy Movies -

I forgot Polar Express! My dd and I saw it one year on the screen at our old fashioned movie theater in town the week of Christmas. It was spectacular that year. They don't play it every year but we always watch it.

I have never seen Prancer or Elf, or A Christmas Story. CJ love the Christmas Box, too!

Nini...ok now you just HAVE to come visit a weekend and watch Gone with The Wind at my house! Love.that.movie!

Do I have to pick just one? "The Christmas Gift" starring John Denver (1980s), The (Waltons) Homecoming; in black and white, "The Bishop's Wife", "Christmas in Connecticut", "Holiday Inn".

Okay.....I'll stop now.

Mine are: Miracle on 34 Street, It's a Wonderful Lie, Santa Claus 1 (didn't like 2 and 3 as much) Home Alone and I
Love White Christmas but haven't seen all of it in years. Love some of the Hallmark Christmas Stories Like The Christmas
Box, The Locket, The Carousel, The Christmas Ornament and others I can't even think of.

I am not a Jim Carrey fan so didn't like The Grinch at all. Also didn't like The Christmas Story (If that is the one about the
kid who wants a Red Rider BB Gun?).

I love Old Christmas Musicals like The Andy Williams Christmas Programs each year. Those were classic.

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

For me - no question - Christmas Story!

My family and I are crazed enough about it that for pure, silly fun we met at the Christmas Story MUSEUM in Cleveland : )

Hubby and I flew in from DC and my parents drove from Pittsburgh, and we had a blast. It was June, and I thought we'd be the only people there but the tour was sold out. It is not just us who are a little nuts about it.

If you love nearby and like the movie, go visit. If you live far away and love the movie, go visit.

The house you tour is the actual house used for exterior shots in the movie, and they have the inside looking all but identical to the movie set. The B&B gun and bowling ball are under the tree with the huge old-fashioned bulb lights and the "octopus" of too many cords at the outlet. Upstairs in the boys' bedroom is THE pink bunny suit, and in the bathroom is the red bar of Lifebuoy soap from when Ralphie swore. These are just a few of the things you'll see.

The whole thing is just a hoot and then the museum has piles of memorabilia and fun things to buy.

It isn't Christmas until we watch Flick lick the light post and come back to class with a splint on his tongue!

I have a box that all the Christmas movies are in. They only come out at Christmas! Each of us has a favorite and we watch all of them. I think my favorite of them is What a Wonderful Life, followed by Miracle on 34th Street (the old one), White Christmas and Holiday Inn.

Sharon - I have "Love's Christmas Journey," but haven't watched it yet. Where does it "fit" in the sequence, or doesn't it? I wanted to watch the series in order, but I cannot figure out where it fits!!!

Shannon,
I think it is the most recent movie. The main character Ellie appears to be one of Clark & Marty's children. She takes on her brother Aaron's children. Does that make sense?

Sharon - hmmmm that makes sense with the books, but I don't recall it being mentioned that they had her in the movie. I'll have to watch it really soon :)

I remember a made for TV movie inthe 1970's called "The House without a Christmas Tree". The father didn't believe in celebrating Christmas--but the Christmas spirit wins in the end.

For me it's A Christmas Carol from 1951 with Alastiar Sim. Growing up long before cable, video's and CD's, we would come home after Christmas Eve services and this movie always seemed to be on. I loved it then and I love it now. Not for just being a classic but for all the warm memories of family time spent together it brings back for me. I even enjoy it being a black and white film. Karla

Every Christmas we watch Scrooge. It's a musical with Albert Finney. Of course it's actually A Christmas Carol movie. My daughter is 30 now and we still watch it every year. It wouldn't be Christmas without it. Of course, Home Alone and many of the Christmas movies on Hallmark are great and uplifting. Too many titles to list. We still like It's a Wonderful Life too.

OH! Did you know there is going to be a Lucy and Ricky Christmas movies special on this Friday? It looks like it will be fun. Love to watch Christmas episodes of old TV shows. Andy Griffith, The Walton's, Honeymooners, Laverne and Shirley, to name a few and who can forget Charlie Brown.

Merry Christmas to all of my Sisters and Farm Girl Hugs,

Ok, I'm becoming a 5 year old for a few moments and saying that with out a doubt my favorite Christmas movie is the old original Grinch cartoon. I'm actually not much of a tv/movie fan and would rather see plays, dances or read books. But the Grinch is wonderful and a much loved Christmas tradition in my house
