My mother in law has one. She loved it for the first 2 years, but then the third year one sections of lights quit working. Now she strings lights on it like a plain tree. I don't know if there are differences in they way they are made or not - to repair something to make the lights work.

We received one from our in-laws when they didn't want it anymore. It was great for a couple of years, but it is a pain when those light strings start going out. At first we would replace them exactly as they were strung, but now we just light it as a regular tree since most of the original strands are dead. We would've never bought one if it wasn't given to us.
Hope this helps! |

I have a GE tree from K-mart and have had no problems with it except that it was very confusing plugging all the lights together for the different sections (there are a few "empty" plugs for plugging in lighted ornaments, etc.). So, what I found helpful was once I got it all together and lit, I put a piece of colored electrical tape on both ends of each connection (yellow to yellow plug, blue to blue plug, etc.) - next year it was a snap - just had to match up the colors!

We purchased a smaller one at the end of season last year. We didn't open the box until this year and some of the lights didn't work. We replaced the strand that didn't work with 2 strands. I like more lights too.

I have the same experience as the others about a section going out after a few years. Actually, a section went out on a tree I bough last year. Fortunately it is in a place that could be hidden by garland and ornaments. Eventually I will have to deal with that area. I am hoping nothing else goes kaput on it! Good luck finding the best tree for your house.
