Hi friends, I am just now starting on the journey of brewing my own Kombucha and also making both water kefir and dairy kefir. I really don't have a clue about any of this but I want to LEARN! Does anyone have a go to book or websites etc that they can share with me, and/ or personal advice and experience? I need all the help I can get. I am lucky enough to have a farmgirl friend in Michigan who is sending me a SCOBY and both water kefir grains and dairy kefir grains in the next week, so I need to really get rolling learning all that I can. Also I know there was a large article in one of Mary Jane's magazines a while back about SCOBY/Kombucha, but I bartered my back issues a while back and no longer have it. Anyone remember what issue that was? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Hugs,

Here is a company that has cultures and info thats pretty good.
www.culturesforhealth.com I was thinking about ordering some water kefir grains. I don't know of anyone to send me any kefir grains at this time. I just bought a book on Wild fermentation and just got done making my first batch of Kraut. It turned out really good so I am stoked about other live cultures. I too am learning and I hope your cultures get to you safely.

I have been brewing for a few months now, and I just researched the subject one several websites, I used the recipe in MJ's magazine and I don't remember which one, either. We like to flavor ours with ginger pieces and apple chunks with cinnamon sticks. I keep my spare SCOBYs in a quart jar and replace my "mothers" every 6 batches. I chop up and feed the "mothers" to my chickens. Good luck

Thank you Kathy! I am anxiously awaiting my SCOBY to arrive, so I can get started! Funny today a Mountain Rose Herbs had a tutorial on their blog which I added to my favorites, for future reference. Hugs,
