I very recently bought a used Vitamix,it came with the big cookbook and instructions. I really don't think it had ever been used. My question to those of you who have one, what are your favorite recipes or uses for it

I use mine during canning season to puree whole tomatoes without the core to make spagetti sauce. I also just puree them and use the puree instead of juicing the tomato. That way you get the nutrition of the whole tomato, skin, seeds and pulp. It makes it richer. It also saves tons of time. Whole food smoothes are also wonderful.Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.I have had mine for 9 years and it has been a wonderful appliance.
Congrats on your Vitamix Denise!

I use mine A LOT for smoothies. I got a collection of recipes from a nutritionist, and many of them involve kale. I am a big fan of kale, but when you whiz it up with frozen cherries among other things, the color is horrific and my husband has often commented on the lack of appeal these particular smoothies have.
So we're out on a hike on a trail shared with horse traffic, and come across a deposit left by a horse. My husband points and laughing says, "That looks just like your breakfast smoothies!". The sad thing is....he was right.
Now my nutritionally wonderful powerhouse breakfast drinks have come to known as the "horse poop smoothies". They look horrible but taste great with kale, frozen cherries, ginger root, lemon, Greek yogurt and maybe banana.
Vitamix blenders are incredible - I swear you could process firewood and water in to pulp to make homemade paper in it! You'll be really happy with it, I am sure.
Along with smoothies, I use it quite a bit for butternut squash soup using a recipe from the Vitamix booklet.
Enjoy! |

It is the best thing I ever bought! I use it for: Well, I think it would be easier to say what I don't use it for.LOL In any given day, my Vitamix is used for: Smoothies, hot soup, salad dressings, hummus, dips, chopping veggies for soup and canning, mac and cheese sauce, slaw, peanut/almond butter, pulverizing grains... I love it. & don't be fooled by the commercials for the made in China wannabes. Vitamix is made in the USA, and gives a 5-7 yr warranty (a bit longer if you order direct from Vitamix, and they pay shipping to and from in the case of repair) You don't even get that with a car. If you can swing it GET IT!!!! Ok after all that, I feel I need to say, " I am not a paid endorser of Vitamix and /or their assigns" Kidding, but I feel like a commercial.
