Hi, Ladies. Another great book to tell all you stitchers about. It is called "Sew What! Skirts" by Francesca Denhartog and Carole Ann Camp
This book will lead the beginner sewer as well as the more advanced sewer through various skirt styles and variations, easiest to easy to a little more time. YOU make all the patterns based on the info the authors supply about measurements on yourself, and the basic construction of skirts.
This book will save you money by not buying so many patterns as well as give you confidence in your creative abilities and gain skills with your sewing machine. Even after sewing for 15 years, I enjoyed and learned a tip from her about "basting" in a zipper with tape.
There are plenty of styles with casing waists or drawstring waists to get you going in a hurry and her instructions on zippers make it sound like a breeze. Jump right in! I plan on it over the next week.
The pictures of the skirts is enough to inspire all types of styles to wear-casual, summer, longer for winter, formal, extravagant, quick, sassy, and some even to wear with your boots for line or square dancing.
My daughter took my copy to school the next day to show her sewing class and instructor. She is already scoping my stash to pick something to make over Thanksgiving break. She also belongs to a sewing 4H club that has a Fashion Revue in the spring and has her heart set on modeling one of her skirts there.
This is another great find. Just to enjoy the fabrics and styles is enough to get you moving to the machine. I found the directions easy to read and follow. I can't wait to jump in, but first I have to finish a rag quilt and some projects for the Christmas exchange.
