Hi Wanda!
How about that!
I am so happy that your son has taken over the old homeplace. How wonderful. Yes, we are on Union Power. They've been good to us for many years.
Congratulations on the marriage of your son. Our eldest son married last June and our middle son just got married at the end of September. No grand babies for us yet, either, but I can't wait! I adore my daughters in law too!
Thank you for saying hello!

Hi Lindy, welcome back. Some of us old gals are still here and I am still enjoying the farm just as much as I did when I first joined all those years ago. It’s my family, it’s my home! Welcome home Lindy, enjoy being back .

Welcome back Lindy! It is very nice to meet you. I joined in 2015, so I wasn't around when you joined. Hopefully there are still some ladies around that you remember. But there are some wonderful ladies active now! I look forward to getting to know you better!

Hello New Sisters,

I first discovered an autographed copy of MaryJane's "Ideabook, Cookbook, Lifebook" at a small gift shop in York PA when I was living in that small city in an impoverished neighborhood. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book cover to cover, many of the chapters taking me back to my childhood. I was born & raised in Concord PA located in Path Valley of central PA. As an adult, no matter where I have lived, I have found a way to have an outside garden, to continue food preservation that I learned as a child/youth from my mother & enjoy most of the activities that go into the making of a home.

I have lived in the country, inner cities, suburbs, & small country towns. I have always found a way to continue gardening & to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life. Just this past fall, my husband & I moved to a condo in Leesburg VA to be closer to his job & the Washington Dulles airport where we both serve as Chaplains. My work experience has been mostly retail related including owning & operating "My Neighbor and Me" as a fair-trade gift shop for 14 years. But I left that season go when needs in our families were requiring more & more trips to PA to assist in family care. We are blessed right now to have all 4 of our parents alive & I'm calling this season "Honoring Our Parents." We are very thankful that we are now in a place where it is suitable for our elderly parents to join us if needed since it is handicap accessible. Plus, I was blessed with two things that I did not expect when we moved here- 2 personal garden plots in our complex just a short walk away from our building & a beautiful perimeter walking trail in the woods.

I decided to finally join the Farmgirl Sisterhood this year to work on the Merit Badges. At this time, there is not a chapter nearby, but I look forward to finding like-minded Sisters in the future. I brought all of my canning/freezing supplies along & have found a way to set up a pantry in our new home. Visitors are surprised when they discover my enjoyment of serving home-grown, home-prepared foods. I value table time; it is the center of our home life that we plan to continue to share.

Welcome Christina! You will be so happy you joined the Sisterhood I believe. I am a Carolina girl, raised in NC and recently moved to SC.

Hello Lindy and Christina, you have both found the
hiraeth that all of us have discovered here. Especially during the Pandemic, I believe it kept us connected and sane. Welcome back home.

Welcome Christina to our MJF Chatroom! I am happy to learn that you are back to a place that is familiar and still home to you. What a joy to have found a landing spot again that incorporates family access and a new opportunity for you. Many of us do not have a chapter to join, but we find friendship in sharing and being an active part of this chatroom. If time allows, you might also consider joining in swaps because it is another way to get to know other farm girls while having a lot of fun. I look forward to "seeing you here" and sharing the things you are doing . As MaryJane has always says, "Farmgirl is a matter of heart." So no matter where you are, you can be a part of MJF and share with all of us the projects and exploration your Farmgirl heart is doing wherever you live.
