I thought handmade ornaments deserved a thread of their own. That way other farmgirls can get ideas and share with others.

Bottle Cap Mushroom Christmas Ornaments

I just started making these for gifting this year. It's not my original idea, as I found it on the internet. I cut my wine corks in half using a small saw, and drilled a hole to slide the metal hanger into, with some strong glue. I did hand paint the metal bottle caps, and sprayed them with a gloss before putting them all together.

I've been working in the clay again (so what else is new?) and I came up with these. I love that they can be personalized. The two candy cane's can be personalized on the banner up top and the penguin can be personalized on the small heart. I'm working on coming up with some more snowman ideas and will be trying to make a few santa's as well.

hugs

Marcy,
I just saw those on your blog. So cute!
In the past I made some tiny sculpey clay snowmen, and placed them inside recycled vending machine containers (I hope to have a tutorial on my S.C.R.A.P. Blogspot soon).

Other ornaments I have made can be seen at these links:

I've made little stockings in the past. Sold well at craft fairs. Might do them again as you can stuff them with little goodies. Will send photo later.

I made this little angel a few days ago and I just love her. I think she is one of my most favorite things that I have ever made and I have made many, many things over the years. I am thinking of all kinds of ways to customize these little cuties. I was thinking of different colors, such as I could do birthstone colors, or I could replace the heart with something else. If I did that I could always add a small heart or star or something else that I could personalize. I keep her cloes to me where I can see her, she makes me smile.

hugs,
Marcy

Oh my gosh! These are all so cute! Kristina - those mushrooms are adorable!!! Marcy - do you use a finishing spray on your projects, or will they last just fine without it? Love them! You girls are just SO talented! Hugs - Nini

I have it on S.C.R.A.P. now (however the pattern I used on-line to make the snowman, is no longer there).

Making ornaments has been a passion for me for years and years. I gift my extended family with a few every Christmas. I even send some to my Aunt, who shares them with my cousins too.
