Hi Heather and welcome to MJF's! How lucky that you can have chickens in your suburban area. My city has strict rules and my tiny lot isn't big enough. We had chickens when I was a kid and while it was hard work it was also fun. I had a pet chicken who was just the sweetest little thing. She was a little barred hen and of course I named her Henny Penny. She liked nothing better than to sit in my lap for her scratches and would take a nap there. Have fun here and I know you'll find lots of good info and new friends! Enjoy!
We look forward to getting some chickens next year too. Is the color changing in MA? I grew up in the Western MA area and would sure love to be back this time of the year :)
