I have a shelf in my sewing room that I put odds and ends on for inspiration and meditation. It's a place to keep treasures like a robin's egg I found on the ground, an abandoned wasp nest that had fallen, a pretty rock, a brass apple from my deceased grandmother and some figurines from my sister-from-another-mother. The treasures come and go according to what I find lying around and what season it is. My daughter very much enjoys helping me with the treasures and the arranging of them.

Sherrilyn, What a great idea. Thank you for sharing it with us. Maybe I will find a place for a shelf and do the same thing. It would be a great place to put Mary Jane Swap items to think of all the wonderful, kind and caring, Farm Girls. I really like this idea.

It is important to keep special items where you can see and enjoy them often.

My mom had a treasure box that she kept things like that in. I have an old buffet that I use to store my herbs in and I have one of the drawers set aside for such treasures.

There's just something special about a place for one's treasures. We keep what may seem like odd things to others, but they bring us such great joy. I have added a couple of chicken feathers that have come in with the eggs and I know the odd leaf will start showing up soon.

Several years ago, I had my hubby make and install shelves that go all round the dining, kitchen area over the windows, even with the top of the upper cabinets. The space is 13 inches from the ceiling and I have LOTS of space to display all kinds of things! I have some antique items from our family farm, some treasures from our travels to Ireland/Scotland/Wales/England, etc., etc. He used some attractive brackets that have a bit of "scrolly" looking metal which I've used to stretch ribbon across, which are under the shelves but above the windows and have vintage potholders hanging from one, under the window over my kitchen sink. Another one has photos and the third window has postcards, some of them are vintage and some that are MJF postcards. I just use mini-clothes pins to hang the items which can be rearranged or changed out anytime.

Sherrilyn and Ceejay, those shelves sound like a great idea. I have a shelf the length of one living room wall that I put treasures on. It is changed often so we SEE what is on the shelf. Right now it has my husband's koi trophy. In my sewing room I also have space to display. Like Sherrilyn, it's important to see the things that mean so much.

Here, Here to keeping and creating a space for our beloved treasures! You are so right, Bonnie, it makes me happy when I can see certain things each day that remind me of great memories or friends and family. Memory and association are powerful parts of our collective lives!
